This is one of the most popular question asked when people begin to renovate their home. Overall, renovations will increase the value of your home, but is it worth it?

According to USA Today, 54% of home buyers will pay more for a home with hardwood floors already installed. Though, the age of the buyer does make a difference. Most people under the age of 55 think hardwood floors are important, while buyers 55 and over don’t find them as important in their search for a home.

When you think about replacing your floors, remember to take into account climate, budget, and the specified room.

While hardwood floors are the most sought after floor, in warmer climates, you might want to think about tile flooring to help keep the room cooler.

While you are renovating, think about your budget. If you have a lower budget, laminate floors are a great alternative to hardwood. Though they aren’t wood, they will still increase the value of your home.

What rooms are you renovating?

Though much of the population liked hardwood floors in their home, many would actually prefer their bedrooms to be carpeted. If you do decide to switch all of your rooms to hardwood, you can always add custom area rugs to places that might benefit from carpeting.

HGTV has found that the number one request from home buyers is hardwood floors. Any update to your floors bring new life to your home and will always increase the value of your home.
